[ Welcome ]
Thank you for your interest in our
program.
On behalf of F-R-S network volunteers throughout the
United States, welcome to our "on-line" Information Center.
This site promotes two goals:
- To support neighborhood CERT
volunteers. Your neighbors may be using F-R-S radio while
training as part of a Community
Emergency
Response
Teams
Program. They are establishing local neighborhood
communications networks in the event services and/or communications are disrupted in a local disaster or
emergency.
- To establish F-R-S #1 as a National
Call Channel. Use Channel 1 to make initial contact, and then
immediately move to another channel for your communication.
This keeps the channel FREE for others to make their calls, and keep
it available in case someone calls for help.
About The CERT Program
In the event of a
local disaster or emergency, telephone communications and government
resources may not be available. Many governmental agencies,
frequently in cooperation and under the guidance of the local fire
department, have programs to train volunteers in basic emergency
response/communications.
Many of these same local volunteers use
F-R-S for local training sessions in preparation for "IF"
their skills and experience are needed in the future.
Our goal in creating this site is to
provide you with all the information you need to establish, record,
sustain and promote your local Neighborhood Communications
Network. Updates will be continually published based on requests
for additional information and ideas that may assist you in your
efforts.

[ About Our Background Color ]
This color of green represents
safety. This color was selected to
"immediately get your attention" and begin to promote F-R-S
Channel 1 by designating it as the National Call Channel in
neighborhoods across America and in other locations where F-R-S radio
are used.
